Here is the first 3 inch variant of the Smith & Wesson 686-6 we’ve ever had with a Non Fluted Cylinder. When it left the factory recently, it had different grips on it. We have outfitted it with attractive, functional and concealable Pachmayr SKC grips, current production Pachmayr Compacs that come very close to replicating the classic 1980s Magna-Tyler grip configuration. We were fortunate enough to get three of these, and we do not anticipate being able to get any more. Named model on its .357 Counterpart is Distinguished Combat Magnum Stainless. This is a scarce variant of the classic, the 686-6 Stainless Full Lug with round butt K/L grip frame. This Sixth-Engineering-Change 686 has the strengthened frame, beveled thumb latch, internal lock, and Case Colored MIM Hammer and Trigger with floating firing pin. Barrel is traditional full lug one piece 3 inch marked S&W .357 Magnum on its left side. Hammer is, of course, .375 serrated spur, and the trigger is .312 smooth combat. Hammer is flat face to mate the floating firing pin. This is the Plus Variant with 7 round cylinder capacity, S&W product code 150853. Construction, with the exception of selected internal parts and the sights, is entirely stainless steel. Sight configuration is Red Ramp front and white outline rear, fully windage and elevation adjustable. Weight empty is just under 34 ounces. The -6 variant not only has the classic Smith & Wesson transfer bar safety to prevent accidental firing from dropping or bumping, it is equipped with Smith & Wesson's patented internal lock and two keys. Replacement price on the 686 Stainless 2 1/2 inch, the closest standard catalogued sibling, if a person can even find one, is upwards of $900.
