Here is Mossberg’s model 500 Recoil Reduction shotgun series, with camo finish, in 12 gauge. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, bolt, trigger, and internal parts fitted into an alloy receiver with polymer trigger group housing. Entire finish is Mossy Oak Break Up Infinity camo including the synthetic stock and forend. Buttstock has black tone accents, and is equipped with the Mathews Harmonic Damper ® Recoil Reduction system and a replaceable cheek piece that is set for standard 1 1/2 inch drop at its comb. Chambering is 12 gauge – 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Magazine capacity is 5+1 on 2 3/4 inch; 4+1 in 3 inch. Barrel is 28 inch with 12 post .375 serrated top Ventilated Rib. Sights are white polymer bead front with smaller brass mid bead to complete a figure 8 sighting system. Choke system is Accu-Choke®, same thread as old style Winchester Winchoke® and old style Browning Invector® systems. Choke tube furnished is a .702 vicinity diameter Modified Accu-Choke. This variant’s buttstock contains the Mathews Harmonic Damper® system that dramatically reduces felt recoil. That, combined with the 16 ports just behind the muzzle threads, will make for pleasant shooting even with 3 inch magnums. All Mossberg receivers are drilled for Weaver #88 size optics bases or Mossberg 96200 rails for any Picatinny type light or optical device. Length of pull is 14 inches from the .250 smooth face blue steel trigger to the end of the factory 7/8 inch recoil pad. Stock drop is 1 1/2 inches at the comb, 2 1/2 inches at the heel and with a 3/4 inch right hand cant. Even though the safety itself is Southpaw friendly due to its top tang position, the buttstock will require professional adjustment for left handed shooters. Weight empty is 7 pounds 10 ounces, with center of gravity at the breech face. This Mossberg comes to us from its company’s distribution system. From its U457000 range serial number, it was manufactured in mid 2013. It likely served as a showgirl with factory reps and writers. It has the letter U stamped near its serial number. We call it a factory demo. It has the letter U stamped beside its serial number. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint occasional wear really no more than new display models one sees in gun stores across the country. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, choke threads and mechanism are bright and clean. If this gun has ever been fired, it was fewer than 15 to 20 times.
