Up for auction from an estate sale is an excellent condition socket bayonet and good condition scabbard for use on the .303 caliber M1895 Martini-Enfield rifle. The Pattern 1895 bayonets were altered Pattern 1876 bayonets, originally made for the caliber .577–450 Martini-Henry rifle. OA length 25.125" (638 mm), blade length 21.50" (546 mm), socket length 2.980" (75.69mm), blade width .794" (20.18 mm), socket ID .650" (16.5 mm), sight to edge 1.80" (45.83 mm), socket OD .840" (21.35 mm), flute length 20.75" (527mm ). 90% bluing remains, no rust, some discoloration on the blade, handling dents and dins but minor, ricasso markings broad arrow WD, crown, 16E (Enfield factory) placed in service 9/12/96 stamped and #703 below the bend inspection mark. Muzzle ring end stamped crown, 1C, M. The scabbard leather shows signs of ware, brass chape and throat minor scratches and dings, OA length 22.25" (565 mm), the throat is stamped broad arrow and WD, crown, E (Enfield Factory),7, the chape stamped a faint broad arrow and WD.
