This rifle was manufactured by Winchester with the Maxim Suppressor mount. The factory suppressor mount has interrupted threads and was originally sold with a suppressor. I never had the suppressor and a suppressor is not included in this auction. The rifle has a serial number that starts with 100,8xx. Rifles in this serial number range were manufactured in 1901. The rifle has a 24" (24 5/8" overall) octagon barrel with Maxim suppressor mount, flip down front sight (plain post/shrouded post), color case hardened receiver, 12 ring forend, lyman rear tang peep sight. The rifle bore is bright with shallow rifling. the internal parts are in excellent condition and it does not look like it was used very much. The exterior of the rifle has some light surface rust and no deep pitting. The rifle functions flawlessly and needs some tender love and care. The stocks are in good condition with a few dings and no cracks. CCI started manufacturing ammunition a few years ago for this long forgotten caliber. This is truly a real piece of american history.
