Description: This is an excellent example of a late production Model 1928 Thompson Submachine gun manufactured post war by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York. These SMGs can be easily identified by the "A" serial number suffix as being produced circa 1970s. These new production weapons retained many of the earlier original style parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator, vertical fore grip, detachable buttstock with and adjustable ladder rear sight. The Auto-Ordnance "bullet" trademark is roll-stamped on the top of the receiver in front of the rear sight. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.9*8A” followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1.” The right side is marked "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A.” The receiver is notched to accept 50 or 100 round drum magazines. This desirable weapon has an all walnut late style stock with cross-bolt reinforcement, vertical fore grip and pistol grip with the later brush blued finish. Includes one stick magazine. Condition: Very Good to Excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish. Bore is bright & shinny. There is some light pitting from improper storage, especially on the left receiver, which has many fine scratches as well, (photos available). The wood components are also in VG condition with a nice matching medium brown color overall with only minor handling marks and 2 hair line cracks at the butt plate. This is a really nice, very good, West Hurley Auto-Ordnance Thompson submachine gun. NOTE: This weapon is a Transferable National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATF) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. This gun is on a form 4 in Arizona. An Arizona buyer must pay a $200 transfer tax and wait about 9 to 12 months for BATF approval of the transfer. 50% deposit when we submit the form 4 with the balance due upon approval. If you are reading this I still have it. Sorry, no trades.
