Frame-Saver Dual Action Recoil Spring
When firing a modern semi-auto pistol, the slide is moved back by a blow-back force created by the cartridge firing. It flies back at an incredible speed, and then comes to an immediate stop against the frame. This force (called recoil) impacts the frame and is constantly weakening the slide and vibrating the internal parts, and causing turning movements in the shooters wrist. This sudden impact causes a violent muzzle jump which temporarily throws the gun off target and upwards. What the EFK Firedragon Frame-Save Dual Action Recoil Spring does is prevent the abrupt stop of the slide hitting the frame. The recoil spring surrounds the guide rod which is located just beneath the barrel of the weapon. This recoil spring is designed to bring the slide forward after the empty cartridge case is ejected and peels a new cartridge out of the magazine and loads it in the chamber. The recoil spring tension is also designed to bring the slide forward into battery for the next shot.
The EFK Firedragon Frame-Saver Dual Action Recoil Spring houses a secondary spring internally inside the guide rod. So the one-piece factory guide rod is replaced by a two-piece spring loaded guide rod. This spring loaded guide rod is the key to the whole function of the Frame Saver Dual Action Recoil Spring. It actually absorbs the recoil pulse felt by the shooter by letting the slide come back but engages the internal guide spring at the last moment before it hits the frame. This acts as a shock absorber for the pistol and it won't affect the operation of the weapon, but you will notice a significant decrease in felt recoil.
