The gun was owned by an older gentleman who owned a small gun shop, the story is this 788 was a Dealer Exclusive and a very limited run gun (much like a Davidson's exclusive or Talo today) I have no idea how many came from the factory in this configuration, but there can't be to many possibly as few as a couple hundred. The rifle is in mint condition there are a couple tiny scratches just from going in an out of the safe I'm sure, one small bluing rub on the trigger guard, other then that the wood is pretty much perfect and a really nice looking piece of wood at that, it also has a rosewood pistol grip cap and forend cap. If your a Remington collector or just somebody who wants one that "nobody else has" this would be a great addition to your collection.
