Description: Here is a very credible specimen of Connecticut Valley Arms’s earliest collaboration with Armi San Marco of Italy. We estimate that it was manufactured in the mid 1970s, as the F.I.E. company weakened and contracted from its previous importation of many Spanish and Italian made percussion firearms. We suspect that Connecticut Valley Arms is the principal heir to F.I.E.’s adventures in the black powder market, and its ascendancy marks F.I.E.’s exit from that market. As far as this revolver’s design, it is one of the strongest made on the traditional Colt styling with open frame and no topstrap. Still, brass frame .44 revolvers ought to be handled carefully and loaded lightly, just as this one has been. By the mid 1980s, FIE had reorganized and closed out its black powder lines altogether/ This is one of the revolvers that helped accomplish that. This particular 1860 Colt CVA, manufactured in Italy by Armi San Marco, comes to us from a local estate where it was used but very well maintained and kept clean. The brown appearance to the cylinder and barrel surfaces comes from years of holster contact, but the chambers and bore of this revolver are clean. We rate it as Very Good finishwise, even though the cylinder and forward areas of the barrel are quite brown. That makes them look aged and authentic, perfect for reenactors or nostalgic Civil War collectors few of whom will ever own a real Colt. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore and cylinder chambers are bright, clean, and excellent, no indications of any pitting at all; and the cylinder times correctly in all six positions. Other specs are single action percussion revolver, brass frame construction with brass trigger guard; 8 inch round contour steel barrel; walnut grip panels with brass escutcheons; blue steel 6 x 1mm nipples. Weight empty is 42 1/2 ounces. Replacement pricing on this CVA / ASM 1860 Colt Army .44’s descendants is currently upwards of $400 in our area. We’re offering this very attractive, serviceable and collectable CVA variant, however, for only $ 179.95. Hawaii and New Jersey civilians must transfer through an FFL. Proof of age required for purchase, 21 years or older. Illinois non-dealer civilians, FOID copy required. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Handguns: $10 flat fee lower 48 states; $30 to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
