Price also drastically reduced...thank my divorce attorney for that one. *** UPDATED *** This rifle is a competition ready .308 chambered rifle (tight neck) that was smithed by Donald Witherspoon in North Carolina for 1,000 yard benchrest. It is a Nesika Bay Model T action with a right hand bolt and left hand ejection. It has a Jewell trigger, Shilen barrel and a round count of approximately 400. I purchased this directly from Don with the intent to compete (it was his personal competition rifle) and never did. I have never fired it. What makes this unique is that when Fred Thompson was campaigning for President in 2008 he stopped and gave speeches at several gun stores. One of those was owned by a friend of mine – Blue Ridge Shooting Sports in Greer, South Carolina. Several of us had taken firearms in to “bulk up the inventory” for the press. This is one of the rifles I had taken in for the day. While there, Fred shouldered the rifle (I know..it’s a benchrest rifle – but who was I to point that out?). Pictures of this made the papers and I can print out the article from the Greenville News web site to show proof of this. He then signed the stock with a Sharpie as shown in the pictures. From a package point of view, the rifle includes the aluminum case (complete with Fred ’08 decal), the rifle itself, 1913 scope base and Jewell trigger. I have invested exactly $3,675 in this package and I am not going to try to calculate a value for Fred’s signature, but as a famous actor and faithful Senator/Presidential Candidate it obviously has value.
