The Mosquito® is built on a sturdy wear-resistant polymer frame outfitted with an integral Picatinny rail (for laser or tac light) and superior ergonomic grips. The rugged blowback system and fixed barrel provide exceptional accuracy. The 4.9” extended-length barrel is pre-threaded for a suppressor. A cap protects the threads, and a wrench is included for cap removal. The color scheme is Flat Dark Earth with contrasting black controls, grip and barrel. The Mosquito® is styled as a standard P-series service arm, with typical Sig action controls, including a US-style magazine release conventionally positioned behind the trigger, trademark Sig left side decocker, slide catch mounted in its classic Sig rear position on the left of the frame, and left side quick take down lever. Internal locking mechanisms and a slide mounted ambidextrous safety provide an extra margin of safety on this pistol. Unlike most .22 semi-auto's, this pistol is also set up in conventional SA/DA firing mode. What this arrangement means is that the gun operates exactly like its P-226, -229, -220, etc, combat pistol cousins, providing an exceptionally friendly, low-cost training platform. Designed to emulate the feel of its center fire cousins, the gun functions best on a diet of high velocity .22 ammunition, like CCI MiniMag, which Sig recommends and with which Sig proofs its guns (rebate coupon included in box). Accuracy is outstanding with the right ammo. Results are less predictable with other brands of ammo. The sights are an adjustable 3-dot system with the rear adjustable for windage and the partridge front adjustable for elevation by posts of different heights (3 provided with the gun). A key for the built in gun lock and high velocity and standard (utility) velocity recoil springs are also provided. The grips are pebble finished black plastic. The included 10-round Sig magazine is steel, very solidly built, and finished in matte black. The finish and overall workmanship on this gun are outstanding as one would expect from any Sig Sauer product!
