If you are looking for the ultimate in a tactical rifle, check this Ruger out! The SR-556 features a high performance adjustable 4-position, 2-stage gas piston operating rod system. Unlike the AR-15's direct gas-impingement system, piston systems, which are similar to those used on the M14, tend to be cleaner and more reliable because they keep fouling gas out of the bolt and action. The entire gas piston operating system is crome-plated for cleanliness and durability, as is the bolt, bolt carrier, and extractor. Sturdy folding back up iron sights (BUIS) include a windage adjustable multi-aperature rear and elevation adjustable front, both of which are spring loaded for quick stowing or deployment. The receiver, which is topped with a Picatinny rail along the sight plane, is made of hard coat annodized mil-spec aluminum alloy. The SR-556 features a 16” cold-hammer-forged, chrome-lined, Milspec 41V45 barrel, chambered in 5.56mm NATO. Twist rate is 1 in 9” and the barrel is threaded, capped with a Ruger military style flash suppresser. The barrel steel is Parkerized (manganese phosphate) which with the the receiver annodizing gives the weapon a uniform business-like matte black color scheme. The pistol grip is an ergo-friendly Hogue Monogrip, and the buttstock is a standard 6-position collapsible M4 style unit. The rifle comes with 3 (three) 30-round Magpul Gen2 Pmag AR-15/M4 magazines and flexible quad-rail covers, all of which are carefully stowed in a black, padded, ballistic nylon tactical soft case.. The SR-556 FB is an extremely functional, accurate, and full-featured tactical package!
