This Weaver V9-1 scope comes to us from the collection of an old defense worker at the Milan, TN, Army Ammunition plant. From our knowledge of its owner and the scope, we estimate it was manufactured in the late 1970s. It has fine crosshairs, and the inside objective bell mikes at 1.442 inches, about 38 mm objective lens. The objective lens is adjustable to avoid parallax up to 1000 yards. Both lenses are clear with their coatings intact, we detect one tiny scour on the eyepiece, but it does not affect the optics that we can tell. Original bluing is strong throughout on the blue steel surfaces; as the photos show, however, there is light superficial weathering and pitting from the 7 to 9 power area on the adjustment collar, with similar residue on the turret caps. We estimate that less than 20 percent of the scope's external surface is affected, so we rate it as Very Good finishwise, excellent mechanically.
