This is a Carolina service revolver, because its box has state references. These are difficult to grade. The only conspicuous detractions to us are light scuffing on the cylinder surface. We consider that this revolver grades a strong Very Good, perhaps even low Excellent; the photos, however, should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. Blast effect to the frame topstrap underside directly above the forcing cone is very light, about one thousandth deep and extending no more than 1/3 of the width of the topstrap. The bore and cylinder chambers are excellent. Mechanism is excellent as well. On double action, the trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 10-12 degrees after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels a full 20-25 degrees after cylinder times, and the single action pull is a very light and crisp 3 pounds. Michael’s grips are probably original issue, with moderate scuffing that affects perhaps 25 percent of their surface area.
