Back in the 1970s and early 1980s, dealers had to buy Smith & Wesson accessories – knives and leather goods, not to mention shotguns – just to get the revolvers we wanted. Their accessories were excellent quality, we discovered after our reluctance. Here is precisely one of those items from the 1970s, a Smith & Wesson 2 3/4 inch wide, 1/5 inch thick, slotted smooth grain russet leather belt for Right Hand shooter with .22 caliber cartridge loops over the left hip. The holster is a number 21 06, also factory marked Smith & Wesson, to accommodate a 6 inch Barrel Single Action Revolver In this rig’s case, it held a 6 1/2 inch Ruger Super Single Six. That in itself was striking, given the standoff between Ruger and S&W in the early 1980s. Belt is size Medium, 34 to 36 inch pants size, much to small for our fat boy photographer. Construction is white stitched reddish brown leather, as the photos show, with nickel plated brass buckle. Surface detractions are moderate, principally damage to four of the 22 cartridge loops, and wear to the nickel plating on the buckle. Surface scouring and darkening is moderate, but the leather is strong throughout with no cracks. We rate it as Good, perhaps Very Good, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Retail price on this rig back 35 years ago was around $30.00; so we’re offering it at an inflation rate of only about 6 percent per annum.
