From one of our Oklahoma friends comes this very attractive little specimen of one of the rarest variants of the small Beretta Autos, the 950 Minx chambered in .22 Short, with 4 inch tip-up barrel. Anyone with even a superficial knowledge of ballistics knows the relative potency of the High Velocity .22 Shorts versus the .25 ACP round, advantage to the rimfire; and it doesn't take much of a mathematician to compare ammunition economics, $5.00 a box or less for the Short round against $20 for the .25 ACP. During this 4 inch variant's brief production run of the early Reagan era, we sold a good many locally to trappers who liked the size and the ample power of the cartridge. The Tip-up barrel configuration, too, is friendly to arthritic hands; there is no need ever to rack the slide on this pistol. This one has very strong original bluing throughout, with some spotty residue on the left side of the frame and slide, from holster contact. We rate it as Excellent, since 90 percent of its original finish is intact by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. This Minx is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Specifications are blow-back action semi-auto small frame pistol, single action, steel slide, barrel, magazine and parts mounted in a lightweight alloy frame and an empty weight of only 11 1/2 ounces.
