The present flood of Oriental cutlery coming from China probably outnumbers all ancestors, but it is not the first time Oriental made knives have been abundant in the United States. Here is an early Sabre Stainless from Japan, circa. 1965. Its history belongs to the rise of discount chain stores throughout the United States, Dime Stores we used to call them, and this knife and its mates sold for less than one dollar apiece, which is all we value the Chinese knives on trade, even if they have the word Buck written on them. Construction was sturdy enough on the Sabres, even if their metal temper was not the best in the world. It took a few years of cheap knife manufacture before Japanese knifemakers could emerge as world leaders by the 1970s. This is a common 3 inch long Jack Knife with obverse pen blade and reverse clip blade. The clip blade has undergone only slight amounts of inept sharpening, and of course people who knew knife quality never bought these in the first place. This one is entirely stainless construction with slightly drawn early composite bone-colored handle panels, and surface wear is minimal. It probably qualifies as Excellent condition, and it is certainly as excellent as it ever was mechanically. We’re offering it for only $ 17.00.
We do not sell knives to civilians under 21 years of age. Most knives with blades over 3 inches are illegal to carry on Federal Property. All knives are illegal to transport on airlines. No shipments of knives with blades over 3 inches to civilians in New York unless we have a copy of your current New York hunting license. No knife shipments to civilians in Chicago, Puerto Rico, or New York City. Knoxville Tennessee residents must furnish Weapons Carry Permit for fixed blade hunting knives or copy of Police Commission Identification. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
