LG2596 Here is one of the immediate ancestors to Mossberg’s 590 series of Military & Police Shotguns. This is a mid-1990s 500-A Mossberg with synthetic 14 inch buttstock and traditional serrated Corncob type matching forend. Its barrel, magazine tube, slide arms, bolt, and shell carrier – all its steel parts – are blued steel; and the lightweight alloy receiver is black glossanodized. Trigger group and safety lever are polymer, and the safety is the traditional Mossberg top tang safety that is southpaw-friendly. This 500 A has been on duty protecting our fellow citizens in the Chesapeake vicinity, and it has been hauled around and stored more than it has been fired. From its R prefix serial number, it was manufactured around 1 from its mates we have in our A&D Books with similar numbers. Surface scouring is minimal, only some faint whitening around the ejection port on the receiver and operation whitening to the magazine tube. We rate it as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent finishwise, since only 10 to 15 percent of its finish is affected by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Note Department #4 on the sides of the buttstock and on its grip cap area. This is easily removable, but we do not consider it a detraction. We are told this shotgun came from Prince George’s Maryland. It was clean when we got it, and that is consistent with what we know of the superb armory habits of that fine Deparment. This 500A is Excellent mechanically. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent; and from the only-moderate operation streaking to the slide arms and magazine tube, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 200 rounds, no rounds at all for a Mossberg that will go 100,000 with no problem just like an old Ford. Other specs are: slide action shotgun with side ejection and top tang safety; receiver disconnector lever, smooth faced steel combat trigger; 20 inch cylinder bore barrel with both 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch capability; magazine capacity 8 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch shells or 7 + 1 on 3 inch magnums. Replacement pricing on the currently produced 590 series Mossbergs, this one’s M&P descendants, is in the $600 range in our area. We’re offering this serviceable ancestor of theirs, however, for only $ 269.95.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Long Guns: $20 flat fee lower 48 states; $50 to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
