Description: From a mid-west sale, a beautiful antique percussion Mule Ear heavy Octagon barrel (1 inch across the flats) target Rifle. The 30" barrel has had a 1 inch false muzzle added for target shooting. The heavy barrel is 44 caliber and has a fixed rear and blade front sight but behind the tang there is a hole for an adjustable target peep sight and what I can see of the bore looks good. The walnut wood stock is in good condition with no chips or cracks but has several dents and dings from over 100 years use (see photos). The stock has a brass crescent butt plate, trigger guard and entrance thimble along with two steel ram rod thimbles (see photos). The lock has a strong spring and functions as it should. The side bar lock plate and top barrel flat is stamped J. Miller Rochester New York (see photos). The metal has a mottled brown patina with some spotting on the barrel(see photos). The hickory wood ram rod is plain and has no tips (see photos).
