This is a nice utility-grade sporter, professional-quality metal work. Receiver is serial 13584xx, nickel steel; barrel is SA -8-38. Bore looks fine. Rear sight is folding Lyman in dovetail. The floorplate has finish wear and there is minor edge wear on other metal, but this rifle has a lot of useful life left. Headspacing: bolt will not close on a Forster "field" gauge. I put this action in the Ramline stock, which is functional, but the Springfield and scope would be a good starting point for a higher grade custom rifle.
