Here is a little used combination that represents one of the best shotguns and best values in our entire industry: the venerable Mossberg Model 500 Slide Action or Pump with glossy finished alloy receiver and bright blue barrels, with walnut finished cut-checkered hardwood stock and forend. This 500 Crown Grade, Mossberg SKU 58243, comes with a 24 inch fully rifled slug barrel with Cantilever type Picatinny or Weaver scope mount. Also included is a matte finished 2 1/2 power, 20mm objective lens duplex crosshair scope, made by the same manufacturer in China that makes several name brand scopes. Factory specs with the conventional 28 inch barrel installed are 47 1/2 inch Overall Length, with an empty weight of 7 1/2 pounds. With the 24 inch Barrel and scope installed, weight is the same. Both barrels are 3 inch capable; this shotgun will digest 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. 28 inch Barrel has Vent Rib, 16 Ports between the 2nd and 3rd post; and the slug barrel has the same feature. 28 inch Barrel comes with a total of 3 Accu-Choke tubes: Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full Chokes. Mossberg Accu-Chokes are interchangeable with Browning Old Style standard Invectors. Note that the buttstock is Crown Grade, with leather textured Monte Carlo cheek piece and 1 inch factory recoil pad, culminating a 13 3/4 inch length of pull from the face of the smooth gold plated trigger to the end of the pad. This setup is a combo bought new from one of our local competitors in neighboring Jackson, Tennessee, three years ago. It is all still in its original box with all its papers and equipment. Surface detractions only amount to storage contact pecking on the buttstock and forend, only moderate. Bluing and anodized metal finish is full strength throughout. From our knowledge of this shotgun’s only consumer owner, and from its condition, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 100 times total. Bores, chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Replacement pricing on this shotgun and all its equipment is upwards of $600.00.
