The one piece guide rod ensured stability during firing, not only for accuracy, but also for unswerving reliability. The slide mounted ambidextrous safety lever that doubles as a decocker has never been outmatched in a double action automatic. The solid steel wing protectors to the windage and elevation adjustable rear sight ensured sight protection in any manner of abusive combat or storage situations. The long smooth double action trigger pull made it easy for even novices to place first shots well from a relaxed hammer position. And the single action pull, simply after engaging the trigger, took back seat to no other pistols except custom tuned 1911 single actions. The single action pull always held its own against the Sig competitors. The all steel construction held its limit at a fraction of an ounce lighter than its 40- and 42-ounce Single Action competitors. This is a well-balanced pistol with a Government size 5 inch barrel and a seven inch sight radius. Even lightweight shooters can handle it for protracted firing sessions with minimal recoil fatigue. This 4506-1 has everything that most Tactical 1911 pistols had, and more. This particular specimen, with its KNC serial number prefix, was manufactured around 1995, and has seen a decade of service protecting our fellow Americans in New England.
