From the personal collection of one of the best marksmen in our area comes this attractive and accurate Savage model 12 bolt action rifle with 26 inch Heavy Stainless Fluted Barrel, all set in an ADL style Brown Laminated Stock. From its G005500 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1999 or 2000. This rifle is chambered in the powerhouse .22-250 Remington Caliber. Surface detractions are minimal, only two or three small scours on the edge of the stock’s pistol grips, and operation buffing on the bolt surfaces. We rate it as Excellent, 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Trigger is on its original somewhat stiff but crisp 3 1/2 pounds with no felt creep. The barrel is completely free floating, and this is an accurate rifle. It has been fired fewer than 200 times, all with commercial and hand loads under 3700 fps muzzle. Barrel is 1:12 rifling with Savage’s accuracy-producing factory tuned collar junction between barrel and receiver. Magazine is internal 4 shot, 4 + 1 capacity. Safety is classic Savage tang safety. Stock is durable moisture resistant brown laminate; length of pull from the trigger face to the end of the 1/2 inch factory buttpad is 13 3/4 inches. Overall length is 46 inches, and weight empty is 10 pounds, with center of gravity under the forward section of the bolt. Mounting base is Leupold Matte Blue Steel with 3 3/4 inch spaced ring position centers, and will avoid having to use extension scope rings.
