Description: Here is the Brazilian Descendant to, and refinement of, the Smith & Wesson Distinguished Combat Magnum. This is the Taurus Model 66, product code # 2-660049. Its 7 round capacity was as much an influence on the parent Smith & Wesson as an effect from Smith. Sights are classic Red Ramp front and adjustable White outline rear. More traditional than the 686, the Taurus's barrel lug has a nice smart bevel that brings its styling closer to the Smith & Wesson 66. Satin Stainless .385 Hammer and matching smooth face combat trigger are both closer to classic 1970s S&W configuration, and the patented Taurus internal lock is the least conspicuous of its kind on any revolver. Weight empty is a superbly balanced 39 1/2 ounces. Grips are factory Taurus Combat grips, superior in fit, function, and recoil absorption to the Michaels grips that are standard issue on many S&Ws. Caliber is .38 Special and .357 Magnum interchangeably. This specimen comes from one of our best young local Smith & Wesson collectors, it was close enough to the classic 686 that he used it for an occasional shooter and left his L frames mostly unfired. Surface detractions are negligible, principally cylinder rotation marking and that really no more pronounced than many of its brand new mates we’ve sold for the past 40 some odd years. It is in its original box with its manual, never executed factory registration card, and keys for its lock. We rate it as Excellent in Box, perhaps even Near Mint, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly Excellent mechanically; bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Blast effect to the under side of the frame’s top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible, only a streak with no depth and no cutting. Forcing cone to cylinder face fit is a tight .003. Double action trigger pull is tight and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 15 degrees after the cylinder times in all 7 positions on double action. On single action, the hammer travels fully 40 degrees after the cylinder times, and single action trigger pull is a crisp original 3 1/2 pounds with no felt creep. We estimate this revolver has been fired fewer than 500 times, principally with low velocity .38 Special loads. With the Smith & Wessons commanding prices well above $700.00 apiece, this Taurus 66 Stainless 4 inch full lug 7 shot model 66 is an exceptional value at only $ 459.00. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
