Smith & Wesson re-introduced the stainless and alloy 642-1 in 1996 after a brief production span of 3 years for the no-suffix variants from 1990 – 1993. This one's CDA serial number prefix dates it to late 1998, third year of production into this specific variant with the J Magnum frame. Note the beveled thumb latch and original Michaels boot grips. This is a local revolver, bought new from us a decade ago, that has had done what the model was intended for: carried in our best Humphreys County customer's pocket. It has minimal buffing and scouring on the sharp edges of the frame and cylinder, and one thin superficial streak on the upper left side of the frame. We rate it as Excellent finishwise, since we estimate that 90 percent of its finish is unaffected by any kind of wear. Photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. We are including a period correct flat blue S&W box. Carbon residue on the cylinder face is very faint, and from our knowledge of this revolver's personal history, it has been fired fewer than 50 times. We're offering it for only $ 469.95
