This listing is for the exact shotgun in the photos. The Mossberg 835 made its debut in 1988 amidst the Federally mandated phaseout of lead shot for waterfowl, and it has reigned supreme ever since. Here is the 835 in full camo attire. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Type is pump or slide action shotgun. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, and parts, built into a light weight alloy receiver with polymer trigger housing, forend, and buttstock. Chambering is for 12 gauge shells, from 3 1/2 inch Magnums to 3 inch, to 2 3/4 inch shells interchangeably. Since this shotgun’s barrel has a 10 gauge sized internal bore, it is NOT designed for slugs. Buckshot is just fine, though, as our Mississippi neighbors attest. Capacity is 5+1 on 2 3/4 inch, and 3+1 on 3 1/2 inch and 3 inch shells. Barrel is 28 inch with 16 ports arrayed near the muzzle for recoil reduction. Sight system is12 Post .375 wide serrated top Ventilated Rib, with steel supported high visibility Red Fiber Optic front sight. Choke system is Mossberg Accu-Mag®, and it is furnished with its original factory tube installed. Accu-Mag thread tubes are available throughout the country. Since the barrel’s lug fits over the magazine and the cap secures with a detent, magazine extensions are easily installed, and we do it frequently ourselves. Receiver on the 835 is contoured like the Model 500 and 535 shotguns, drilled for a Weaver #88 or 417 four screw base. Safety is classic Mossberg top tang style; and the .250 smooth face blue steel trigger pulls at 6 pound vicinity with minimal felt creep. Length of pull is 14 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 7/8 inch black factory recoil pad. Weight empty is 7 pounds 14 ounces, with center of gravity at the back of the forend. Buttstock drops 1 1/2 inches at the comb, and 2 1/2 at the heel, with a 3/4 inch right hand cant, so the 835 is not southpaw friendly. Finish is Realtree Camo entirely, with the exception of shell carrier, bolt, bolt and trigger guard that are matte blued steel. This 835 served with Mossberg’s sales force as a showgirl on the road and at trade shows like the annual SHOT show in Las Vegas. Surface detractions on this specimen are minimal to moderate, principally superficial wear to the camo finish on the left side of the barrel and forend, with some operation wear on the magazine tube. Apart from that, it shows only faint occasional surface streaking or edge whitening. We rate it as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, 85 to 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but its photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, choke threads, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From examination of the shell carrier, we do not believe this shotgun was loaded more than 10 or 15 times; if it was ever fired, no more than that. It comes in a factory box with cable lock and instruction manual that bears Mossberg’s Statement of Warranty. Replacement pricing on this shotgun in our area is $500 or more. We’re offering the Mossberg 835 Realtree Camo shotgun in the photos, however, for only $ 339.00.
