Following in the footsteps of its Smith & Wesson predecessors with their aborted model 947, Taurus has introduced a 9mm revolver, this one, the 905, that carries the same round as the 9mm autos in a 5 shot Chief's Special Size package, where the S&W was a K Frame. Manufacturer, of course, is Forjas Taurus of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Importer is Taurus International of Miami. Construction is entirely stainless steel. The 905 comes with a total of five moon clips, a very nice and very old invention that amounts to having four speedloaders, and the moon clips certainly simplify the retrieval of fired brass. Finish on this revolver is entirely satin stainless steel, with traditional .300 smooth faced satin stainless combat trigger and matching .335 medium spur hammer. Type is double and single action revolver, has an internal transfer bar safety as well as the Taurus patented hammer-internal lock security system with two keys. Caliber is 9mm Luger, 9x19, 9mm Parabellum, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Capacity is 5 rounds, each 905 comes furnished with a total of 3 moon clips. The moon clips serve as ready made speedloaders, and the revolver depends upon them for correct chambering and extraction. The 905 has a factory Taurus pebble grain Boot Grip; and weight empty is a well balanced, pleasant-shooting 23 ounces. Sights are fixed notch rear and stepped ramp front. This specimen is what we call a factory demo, most likely a sales rep’s sample that served as a showgirl in industry trade shows like the annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Box is marked, Factory Reconditioned, as the photos show. Surface detractions are minimal to negligible, really no more cylinder rotation marking than brand new specimens on display in gun shops. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright and clean. Taurus stamps its Demo guns with an X prefix after the serial number. It comes in its original box with two keys for its hammer lock, and instruction manual that includes warranty statement. Its box carries Factory Reconditioned labeling, but also carries the famous Taurus Repair Warranty. Go interchangeable and own one of these fine little Taurus 9mm Revolvers for only $369.00.
