The total production of this variation of Smith & Wesson's .44 Hand Ejector was 5,050 units. In 1957, when Model numbers were assigned to the various Smith & Wesson handguns, the .44 Hand Ejector Fourth Model (Model of 1950) was assigned a model number of 24."
