Description: Here is the first model 12 that has come through our doors in ten years. From its home domicile in the vicinity of Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne, comes this attractive specimen of the .38 Military & Police Airweight, numbered model 12, Second Engineering change. The Tennessee side of Fort Campbell’s grounds is in our Congressional District. From its C950000 range serial number, and from Mr. Jinks’s factory letter, it left the factory on October 13, 1967, shipped to Belknap Hardware in Louisville. Production ran from 1952 until 1986, but these were never, ever plentiful. Type is traditional double and single action lightweight medium frame snub nose revolver. Manufacturer and warrantor is Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA. Construction is steel barrel, cylinder, trigger, hammer, and internal parts built into a lightweight alloy frame. Grips are original issue factory walnut Magna type with diamond style checkering. Their serial number matches the revolver. Chambering is .38 Smith & Wesson Special, Standard Velocity only. Barrel is 2 inch, six groove right hand 1:18.75 rifling, pinned into the frame. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds. Trigger is .240 serrated face casehardened finish, with matching serrated spur hammer, both of them thinner than the standard .265 service size. Frame is .80 thinner than a standard K frame for the early models like this one. Finish is blued steel and black glossy anodized alloy. Surface detractions are moderate on this 12-2, principally a series of finish freckles on the front portion of the frame, many of which penetrate the finish. We rate this revolver as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Blast effect to the underside of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is negligible, only a faint line with no depth. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures a perfect .006. From the faint carbon residue on the cylinder face, we estimate this revolver has been fired fewer than 50 times. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent; hammer travels an additional 2 to 5 degrees on all six positions in double action after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 20 degrees on all six after timing. The single action trigger pull is a crisp and original 3 5/8 pounds. Cylinder shows no lateral play with the trigger fully depressed. We're offering this very attractive, serviceable and collectable Model 12-2 Heavy Barrel for only $ 619.00 Not transferable to civilian residents of California, the District of Colombia, or Massachusetts, until October 13, 2017. 2% discount if payment is with USPS Money Order & Not Credit Card. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
