The Sig version's mix of semi custom features, accuracy, reliability, Sig styling, and reasonable price defines the next generation in the evolution of the venerable M1911A1 pattern, which served continuously as the US Military's sidearm through two world wars and numerous police actions until the mid-80's. The C3 configuration, which mates a short-slide "Commander"-size top end to a scaled down "Officer"-size, light, alloy grip frame, tailors the package to a new level of tactical effectiveness and concealment. Paraphrasing one review .... "What's not to like? The C3 is an accurate, concealable 45 auto with a good-looking, perfectly executed two-tone finish. Workmanship and reliability are outstanding. The extra thin wood grips make the gun seem smaller than it is and make it a natural pointer."
The Sig 1911 C3 reflects decades of refinement to Browning's original design while still remaining true to the original single-action, recoil-operated, .45 ACP pattern. Sig's version features a rugged stainless steel barrel and slide mounted on top of Sig's granite hard anodized black alloy frame. Controls, including the left side only thumb safety, are nickeled. Machined to fine tolerances, the slide and frame are hand fitted to ensure accuracy and reliability. Internally, the gun is classic 1911, complete with barrel bushing, standard recoil plug, and traditional length recoil spring guide. No tools are necessary for field stripping. Premium internal parts, including a match grade target-crowned barrel and hammer / sear / trigger set, and the externally mounted extractor are part of the factory performance package on this gun. The straight checkered mainspring housing , skeletonized Commander style hammer, front strap checkering, moderate de-horning, speed bump on the grip safety, and lowered and flared ejection port guarantee smooth operation and trouble free carry. The two (2) single stack 7-rd magazines have stainless bodies, metal followers and conventional low-profile steel floor plates. With 7+1 rounds on board in these slim magazines and reduced diameter grips, this gun is both a potent self defense package and an outstanding fit for those with smaller hands. * Low-Mount 3-dot “Contrast” Sights--3-dot system built into perfectly proportioned combat rear notch and front pinned and dovetailed partridge day sights. This system provides an extremely natural and easy to acquire sight picture.
* Perfect 20 lpi checkering on the mainspring housing and 25 lpi checkering on the front grip strap ensure a firm hold.
* Custom Dark Rosewood Grips--Thinnest grips and slimmest profile available on any carry 1911.
