Smith and Wesson 686 38/.357 4” bbl. is available for a good home. Stainless steel, very rugged classic S & W L’ frame revolver. This one is a vintage 1986 model : 686 no dash. This is not the lightweight K’ frame model, and fires any and all .357 rounds, and is built to take the abuse. However, it will fire .38’s for practice purposes and 38 +P’s will do just fine for defensive purposes. This has the standard older style pin on the hammer, no lock, and is a Square frame model.
I got good results at up to 25 yards, but at closer revolver/pistol ranges of 15 yards or less it is a tack driver. The target sights work just fine on their own… The piece has some minor scratches on the cylinder, but the bore and operation are flawless. I made sure to clean all powder burns off the front of the cylinders, and found a product that does a good job in removing the ugly cylinder rings.
I am asking for $675 for the gun and selling it as good condition. Included will be two different grips; a Hogue Goncalo Alves (pictured) and a Hogue rubber grip. There a few other accessories I can include like several holsters: an Uncle Mike’s for field use and an inside the waistband soft felt holster. I have carried it afield as a J.I.C. weapon against hogs, and the 40 oz. weight was never very much a burden. Even more comfortable is a decent field shoulder holster, which can be readily found.
Transfer must be done through a FFL dealer. Average cost will be around $35-$75 on your end.
