This Colt Official Police was made in 1966 and has 99.5% original finish. All of the stampings are sharp and clear. The four inch barrel has a ribbed and ramped front site blade with the improved top strap rear site that is narrowed to allow for a finer bead for a single action shot. the checkered and Medallioned factory walnut grip panels appear to be new. This Official Police.is another of the Columbia, SC Police Department trade-in revolvers. the only mar is a slight removal of the blue behind the cylinder release caused when the cylinder was released for reloading. The bore is sharp and the chambers show little use..As I remember, from the period when I worked for the C.P.D.in the 1970s these were most often carried by senior sergeants and above. This is a beautiful example of the old Colt blue and the distinctive Colt trigger pull..The hammer and trigger are polished with a serrated trigger and a knurled hammer pad. All in all this revolver appears to be one of the many fine Colt revolvers made in the mid-sixties. It was warranted for +P ammunition.and today is either a carry piece or a collector's gem. Trying to find another in this condition comes much like the heading of searching for a lost diamond in a Border Town.
