Here is a specimen of the actually pretty good quality, FIE Titan series model HW7 Revolvers imported en masse from the 1950s on up to the 1990s. Corporate genealogy of the Importers were first Eig Cutlery, then F.I.E. / Firearms Import and Export Company, and then E.A.A., European American Armory. EAA, then, has a long and distinguished corporate history. Manufacturer of these good solid revolvers, or at least everything except their frames in some years, was Weirauch in Germany, fondly known to us as Arminius, progenitor of the currently produced Windicator and its HW-38, and HW-357 ancestors. This specimen is made somewhat on the order of the High Standard and Dan Wesson Revolvers: steel parts encased in a two piece pot metal main frame and grip frame. Serial number range is 863,000, manufactured in late 1975 or early 1976, because we received many of its siblings from FIE during those years. This specimen is probably one we sold new to its exclusive owner in neighboring Decatur County, Tennessee, and we got it from his estate. Type is traditional double and single action revolver. Cylinder capacity is 8 rounds of .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle Ammunition. Barrel is 6 inch steel with alloy vent rib, fixed notch rear sight and serrated blade front sight that is integral to the rib. Hammer is .225 serrated spur steel, with transfer bar safety mechanism and operates an easily maintained floating firing pin. Really the only problem these revolvers ever gave was from dirty firing pin springs, easily remedied by any competent person with a split screwdriver. Weight empty is 32 ounces, with center of gravity 1/2 inch forward of the trigger. Surface detractions are moderate, with contact scouring on its edges, some edge whitening, and finish freckling here and there to the steel parts. We rate it as Very Good finishwise, 75 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically. Cylinder times correctly on all eight positions in both single and double action; bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright and clean; and lateral play to the cylinder totals only about 1 mm total. The rear cylinder face is not marked or pinged, this HW7’s owner had more sense than to dry fire it. Blast effect to the under side of the frame’s top strap above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal, we removed lots of carbon and lead; and we test fired it with 8 rounds of Aguila Long Rifle with no hitches at all. This is a pretty good 40 year old revolver, and a testimony to the quality of EAA’s Windicator Series revolvers. We’re offering it for only $ 239.00.
