This is a well used, but factory original Colt Single Action Army revolver shipped to London, September 21, 1876, in a shipment of 100 guns (serial number 17924). The Colt letter accompanies the gun. This SAA is in the scarce .45 Eley caliber, marked ".45 Eley Short" in the Colt letter, designating the 5.5" (short) barrel length, and marked "45 CAL. B" on the trigger guard. Only 2697 Single Actions were manufactured in this caliber, and this is one of the earliest. All markings are correct, including the still visible British proofs. The one piece walnut grips are original and numbered to the gun. The bore has some pitting but with strong rifling.
The case (imported from England) is English oak, vintage of the gun. The inside has been restored with new velvet and accessories. They include two period German screw drivers, a cased cleaning rod, oil can, patch box, gun grease and a contemporary Colt coin-style screw driver.
I'm a little surprised we haven't sold this one yet. It is rare, and in good mechanical shape. We'll drop another $250.00 off for the gun only, without the case.
This is an antique, so no FFL is necessary for shipping. We can take VISA or MasterCard for an additional 4% fee. Will also consider trade for U.S. gold and silver coins at spot value.
