F. Sedgley custom .30-06 on a Rock Island Arsenal 1903 Springfield. Serial 64247 is a rare find, a high condition Sedgley with engraving. Features include a 23.5-inch barrel with banded and hooded front sight (brass beaded blade). The receiver has not been tapped for scope mounts and the Lyman rear aperture has matching numbers. Bolt body, ejector, bolt handle, cocking piece and safety wear polished nickel. The walnut figure is above average for a Sedgley and dressed with a Schnabel forend tip, double-bordered checkering, checkered metal butt with widow's peak and sling loops. ENGRAVING: The floorplate is graced with a descending cougar in silver relief, surrounded by a delicate border and scroll signed by J. Holland. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.4 pounds and length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Metal finish is approximately 85 percent, with some minor thinning and some light freckling. The engraving and markings are tack sharp. Wood is at least 90 percent with a few light impressions and scratches. The price is firm and layaway is available.
