Here is a very nice, very unusual Target Configuration of the Classic High Standard Supermatic Pistol. This one's serial number is 5928xx, dating it to 1955. Barrel is 6 3/4 inch blue steel Medium Heavy Barrel with ports and underside filler rib. This is, according to Fjiestad, a Third Model Supermatic, produced only from 1954 to 1957. It comes, as the photos show, in a green leather rug that is period correct and collectable in its own right, but not a good rug to store a pistol in. Grips are very nice Target Walnut, and they probably date from the 1960s, when they likely replaced the original brown plastic grips. This high Standard has faint amounts of white on its sharp edges. We detect very faint amounts of superficial pitting at two places on the edges of the right side of the slide, and midways on the right side of the barrel. Matte finish to the grip frame is whole, but has some grayish appearance. Grips have dullness on their edges, and one scratch across the right panel's center section. We rate this S-101 Supermatic as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, since it has 85 to 90 percent of its finish intact by our estimate. Photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge its finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent Mechanically. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are bright, clean, and excellent.
