This listing is for the exact rifle in the photos. Mossberg’s 4x4 rifles entered the field in 2007, after a 40 year absence from the high powered rifle manufacturing field. Mossberg got it right, and here is their best, the 4x4, in .300 Win Mag. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Discontinued manufacturer’s number was 27458 or thereabouts. This rifle does Not come with any scope or scope rings. Type is bolt action high powered rifle. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, and receiver with polymer trigger housing, and removable internal polymer magazine. Chambering is .300 Winchester Magnum Caliber, with 3 shot magazine, so 3+1 total capacity. Barrel is 24 inch fluted, 1:10 right hand six groove button rifling with counterbored recessed muzzle. Metal finish is matte blue barrel, receiver, bolt handle, face and cowl, with white steel bolt body. This rifle comes furnished with mounted black Weaver 51 and 36 Scope Bases, that measure 4 3/4 inches between their slots, so 5 inches or more of scope tube with no extension rings needed. Safety is very quiet, mounted on the right side behind the bolt handle. Stock is Mossberg sculpted gray and black laminate, with Monte Carlo, lateral stippling, and five ventilation ports on the forend area for heat dissipation and reduced glare. Sling swivel studs are factory Michaels blue steel. Length of pull is 13 3/8 inches from the LBA trigger face to the end of the 1 inch decelerator type recoil pad. Weight empty no scope is 6 pounds 10 ounces, with center of gravity at the breech face. Trigger is .240 smooth faced steel, gunsmith adjustable but set at the factory on 6 pound vicinity, with minimal to moderate felt creep. This specimen served light duty as a showgirl for Mossberg’s sales team or with their writers. It has the letter U stamped near its serial number. Surface detractions are minimal, principally faint contact marking on the barrel. We rate this Mossberg 4x4 as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. If this rifle was ever fired, it was no more than 50 to 100 times. Fewer than 1 in 5 of its mates showed any green copper on our cleaning patches. It comes in a relabeled Mossberg factory box with lock and instruction manual that contains Mossberg’s warranty statement.
