The Ruger Blackhawk® is the surest firing handgun in the world. Here is a much carried, little fired local West Tennessee Blackhawk. Form its 36-25000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1983. Manufacturer and warrantor is Sturm Ruger of Newport, New Hampshire. Factory number is 0316 / BN36 New Model Blackhawk. Type is Single Action Revolver. Construction is steel barrel, cylinder, main frame, trigger, hammer, and internal parts with an alloy grip frame. Barrel is one piece 6 1/2 inch medium tapered, .782 at the frame and .690 at the muzzle. Rifling is six groove, 1:18 Right Hand Twist. Sights are welded one piece front with pinned in black steel serrated blade; and pinned in black blade windage and elevation adjustable rear. Frame top strap is .715 wide by .255 thick at the forcing cone. Cylinders is six shot, and chambers .38 Smith & Wesson Special and .357 Remington Magnum caliber ammunition interchangeably. All Ruger Revolvers manufactured since 1974 have transfer bar internal safety devices. Trigger is .300 wide smooth faced steel, with .285 serrated spur hammer. Grips are custom finger groove laminate with glossy finish. Cylinder diameter is 1.69 inches, the maximum thickness. Overall length is 12 1/2 inches, with 6 1/2 inch height. Weight empty is 46 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger guard front screw. This revolver came to us from light duty with its exclusive consumer owner here in West Tennessee. Surface detractions are moderate, principally some weathering spots atop the frame, over one cylinder chamber, and on the left side of the frame. That in addition to moderate amounts of edge wear and toning to its hammer sides. We rate it as Very Good, 75 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright and clean. Cylinder times correctly, at full cock, on all six positions on both cylinders. Lateral cylinder play is negligible. Trigger pulls at its original 4 pounds, with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is negligible. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 200 times. Replacement pricing on Blackhawks in our area runs upwards of $600 apiece or more, if a person can even find one. The Italian Colt Single Action copies are pretty, but they will be blown and gone long before a Blackhawk even begins to show wear.
