Here is such apparatus’s ancestor, the venerable Weaver Kwik-Point reflex red dot sight from the 1970s, mounted atop a late 1970s Smith & Wesson 3000 Pump Gun. We are offering the shotgun separately on a separate Guns America listing; our concern with this shotgun is its Chuck Yeager Space Age collectability that adds much humor to current bright-boy, slick magazine marketing efforts for essentially the same thing that was on the market almost 40 years ago. Our old head admirers of the Kwik-Point readily point out that it does exactly what all the currently marketed holograph, red dot, and reflex sights do without the possibility of a battery failure since it does not require batteries. The Kwik Point is securely mounted on the shotgun’s steel receiver with a custom manufactured steel plate securely held by anchor screws. It will fit any Smith & Wesson 1000 or 3000 shotgun, or their Howa descendants. The steel plate has some finish discoloration, but it will come with both action bolts. The Kwik Point itself only shows wear on its upper sharp edges and on the edge of its base. We rate this Kwik Point red dot sight system as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its surfaces are affected by edge whitening.
