Armscor of the Philippines launched its business the same year we did, 1952; but it was a little over a decade before we began carrying their products. Since the earliest Armscor .22 rifles, to their long produced .22 Magnum ammo marketed by Fiocchi, we have had positive experience with Armscor products, and that is especially true with their Rock Island Armory series of Government 1911 style pistols. This is Rock Island’s Tactical Variant of its 1911A1 Compact. We call it Officer Size, following Colt, who followed Detonics, and introduced a similar compact 25 years ago. Manufacturer is Arms Corporation of the Philippines in Manila, in business since 1905. Importer and warrantor is High Standard Manufacturing of Houston, TX. This specimen’s fired brass envelope dates its production to 2008. This is High Standard Manufacturing’s Crusader Compact, same gun as API’s 1911A1 CS Tactical. Construction is all steel, with traditional military parkerized finish. Chambering is .45 ACP caliber, with two factory issue 7 shot ACT-MAG magazines, total capacity 7+1 rounds. One mag is polymer base plate, and the other is flat plate. Barrel is hard chrome plated Detonics style heavy flared muzzle 3 1/2 inch 1:16 Left Hand twist six groove rifling. Slide is matching short type, with full length two piece guide rod that has its own bushing setup, and that is key in producing this small pistol’s impressive accuracy. Sights are dovetailed front and rear; and this specimen had its front sight lowered and dotted for 185 grain loads. Rear is steel Novak Combat type, drift adjustable only for windage. Trigger is .240 serrated face skeletonized. This specimen pulls at 4 3/4 pounds with minimal felt creep. Hammer is.270 modified Commander type. This Crusader is series 70 type and does not have a firing pin safety. Grip safety is XSE style beavertail; and main safety is low profile Government type, for right handed shooters. Finish is an even black military parkerized finish, with anodized trigger and mainspring housing. Grips are checkered Filipino hardwood, and this pistol includes a set of Hogue 43000 combat Colt Officer grips. Weight is 32 1/2 ounces empty with center of gravity at the magazine release. This Crusader comes to us from its Nashville Area owner, a distinguished Man of the Cloth who is a 50 year gun owner, hunter, and marksman. He traded it for a full size version of the same pistol. It is in its factory padded hard shell case with instruction manual, NSSF Safety flyer, fired brass envelope, and RIA schematic. Surface detractions are moderate, principally edge contact whitening, with some carry contact whitening on the left rear side of the slide. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From our knowledge of its owner, this pistol has been fired fewer than 2000 rounds, all with factory ammunition. He reports exceptional accuracy. Replacement pricing on a Rock Island CS Tactical in our area is $600 or more, and there aren’t any out there. This pistol is an exceptional value, then, for only $ 419.00. 2% discount if payment is with USPS Money Order & Not Credit Card. Not transferable to civilians in Massachusetts. CA Roster status expires 1/1/16, affects D.C. too. Any ammunition or personnel in any of our photos are Not included.
