George Lucas’s 1977 Star Wars film and its sequels begot all manner of merchandise, but none so germane to our interests as this pistol and its production mates. In the early 1980s, California Instrument Company launched the first helical feed .22 LR caliber M100 rifles, eventually following with their successful 1989 introduction of the M950 Pistol. Manufacturer was Calico of Bakersfield, California. From this specimen’s IO07500 range serial number, it is from the first or second year of production. As far as specs, type is blowback action semi-automatic pistol. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, and internal parts, with an alloy receiver encased in a polymer lower grip frame. Safety is ambidextrous lever type, mounted in front of the trigger. Magazine is helical feed polymer construction with steel liners and springs; capacity is 50 rounds of 9mm Luger caliber ammunition. Magazine releases are simple enough, steel tabs on either side of the rear. Sights are 3 dot type, rear mounted on the back of the magazine itself, and the front sight mounted to the front retaining assembly. Factory Scope, Optics, or Light Mount is included. This pistol ejects downward, through where a normal KG99 magazine well would be positioned. Weight empty is 55 ounces, with center of gravity at the rear of the ejection port. This specimen comes to us from its exclusive New York civilian owner. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint amounts of edge whitening. We rate this M950 as Excellent Condition, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this pistol has been fired fewer than 500 times. It still has its original instruction manual with the Bakersfield Address.
