Description: Smith & Wesson serialization and dating is no simple matter. According to the AZE serial number prefix on this fully traditional .357 Stainless Combat Magnum, it should date to early 1988. The 66-3 successor, however, to this 66-2, was introduced in 1986, so this revolver very likely was manufactured in 1985. Whatever the case, this is a very nice Reagan Era 66-2 with Satin Stainless Hammer and Trigger, and with serrated grip frame fore and aft. It appears to have undergone some polishing, but the classic S&W stainless streaked finish is almost full strength. Finish detractions are as follows. There is a small moderate peck in the lower center of the trigger guard. We detect perhaps a half dozen minute pecks on the right lower edge of the frame above the trigger, and on the right edge of the barrel rib and frame top strap, right at the edge of the matte finish for the frame and barrel top. Matte is near full strength. Rear sight shows light whitening on its blade edges and body serrations, and the red ramp insert for the front sight has a small dimple on its left side. We rate this 66-2 at 85 to 90 percent, strong Very Good and approaching Excellent Condition, but photos should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. This Combat Magnum is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the forcing cone is moderate, a light shallow crease that traverses about 80 percent of the top strap width, as that photo shows. Lateral play to the cylinder is minimal, ½ to 1 mm total movement both with the trigger relaxed and with it pulled. Double action trigger pull is very smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 5 to 12 degrees after the cylinder times in that mode of firing. On single action, the cylinder times correctly in all six positions with an additional 15 to 20 degrees after the cylinder times. Single action trigger pull is a very crisp 3 ¾ pounds. Pachmayr grips are new and decade-appropriate. Own this very nice, very traditional Smith & Wesson 66-2 for only $ 469.95 Not for Sale to California destinations.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
