No FFL needed. 24 3/8" octagon barrel, that is the correct barrel length for these early rifles. Good bright bore, strong rifling but with some scattered pitting too. Excellent smooth and tight action. Lots of original barrel blue and original stock varnish. Some original case colors still showing on the receiver and trigger guard. The receiver metal is smooth, it is not grainy like the pictures suggest! Wood is solid, no cracks or splits. Sights are original. All screws and pins are exceptionally nice. There are a couple of specks of rust on the cresent butt plate and one on the barrel (see pictures). Muzzle face has some black powder roughness.
