This was actually a variation of the standard Colt AR-15A2 rifle that was specially selected for accuracy and then converted by the Colt factory into a "DELTA-HBAR" type rifle. The conversion MODEL R 6600 DH consisted of the Colt factory installing a RUBBERIZED/ARMORED COATED EXTERIOR Tasco 3x9 power variable scope (with duplex reticle) that is mounted with a special COLT marked scope mount also marked M16A1/M16A2 fitted in the carrying handle slot and a Colt marked plastic cheekpiece on the buttstock that provided a higher cheek weld for shooting with the scope. Supposedly these scopes were factory targeted before shipping, so that they were ready to shoot right out of the box. This model was available from Colt in the late 1980s until the 1994 assault rifle ban was implemented. This model has the A2 rifle configuration upgrades that include the forward assist and brass deflector and fixed carrying handle with the 800 meter adjustable rear sight. The lower receiver has the flat side as used on the commercial AR-15s with the original Colt fixed A2 style improved buttstock, handguards and pistol grip. Both sides of the pistol grip on this specific model has a small circular affixed"red and black DELTA" symbol signifying this model. This model was also fitted with their new Colt factory "HBAR" (heavy target barrel) that has a chrome lined barrel with the 1/7 twist designed for 55gr and up heavier bullets. Barrel is marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR. The left side of the magazine well is marked "COLT AR-15 A2/HBAR SPORTER/CAL. 223/SER. SP 24189X". This highly desirable pre-ban rifle comes complete with the original Colt aluminum storage/carrying case and keys, original COLT label on the end of the case.The original accessories which include two 20 round magazines, see-through scope covers, cleaning kit (IN BUTT STOCK), bore brushes, a black COLT marked leather sling and instruction manuals.
