Here is a late and unusual specimen of the only knife that W.R. Case & Sons, to our knowledge, never assigned a pattern number to. This is the standard size Muskrat Pattern, built beginning in the 1940s by using the basic body of the round-bolstered, 3 1/2 inch closed, medium stockman, but with a total of two each identical 3 inch California Clip pattern blades, one in each end. The 2000 decade tang stamping with only two X figures dates this special edition Rattle Snake Muskrat to 2008. Note the Rattle Snake marking and colorized logo stamped on the obverse blade. Bolsters are specially engraved nickel silver, coverate on all four bolsters. Handle panels are genuine bone, ivory color, with special Diamondback pattern picking patterns. This knife has never been used or sharpened; its only detractions are very faint opening and closing / operation buffing on the blade tangs from contact with the brass liners. Handle panel rivets are solid brass as well. This is a distinctive specimen of the Muskrat, and it comes to us from a local West Tennessee collection. We rate it as Mint or Near Mint, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically, in terms of backspring strength.
