Another gem from a recently-retired target shooter's extensive collection: A SMITH & WESSON MODEL 52-2 in almost perect condition. This is the sweetest semi-auto in the line of older Smith & Wesson collectibles.
Chambered for .38 Special WADCUTTER ONLY, it is a superb Target Gun - and just a helluva lotta fun to shoot. When fired with reduced Wadcutter loads, the slide just kinda comes back in almost slow motion, allowing the bullseye shooter to recover and center on the next X-ring shot.
The slide is tight; The bore and chamber are bright and clean. Mechanically perfect. Cosmetically, it would rate an easy 95%, with the exception of an area of bluing discoloration on the left frame above the trigger housing. Nothing serious, but puts this guy into more of a "shooter" category than a pure collectible. Factory grips replaced with fitted smooth wood grips still in nice shape. Sights are excellent: Highly visible - no evidence of buggered screws or scratches. Perfect sight picture.
One particular feature makes this gun outstanding: The Trigger. Without a reliable pull gauge, I'd rate the trigger pull at about 1.25 to 1.75 pounds. It's amazing - just breaks without any hesitation or creep. Perfect for X-ring work.
This S&W 52-2 sports an "A" s/n prefix, putting it in a mid-70's to early- 80's range. Excellent condition, with a bit of wear evident -- but this gun was a working target gun and saw its share of Bullseye matches. Sorry - no box or papers.
