This Ed Brown Safari rifle is built on the new 704-action, which provides for the controlled round feed needed on a serious hunting rifle of this caliber, but eliminates the bolt-length extractor arm used on the Winchester and Mauser actions. It's been called the best improvement on the original Mauser design to date. I got a buy on it, as the dealer had ordered it for a regular client, but during the wait, the client's wife filed for divorce, and he fell apart and moved back to his hometown. I bought it less the downpayment. It was ordered with the factory 30-round barrel break-in performed, and the technician I talked to said it shot like a 375 varmint rifle, great even by Ed Brown standards. I have yet to fire it since I bought it couple of months ago. I have 2 safaris booked for 2009, and as it doesn't look like bonuses and other pay incentives at work are coming back anytime soon, I need to move a few rifles to get them paid, or risk losing the money I already have in them.
