According to its BNR serial number prefix, this .357 Military & Police Heavy Barrel Stainless was manufactured late in the fateful year of 1994. Note the Satin Stainless hammer and smooth .312 Satin Stainless Combat Trigger. This is a service revolver, of course, and it has normal surface detractions. It has been polished, particularly the side plate, and has extensive light pecking and scouring, mostly confined to the right side plate area on the frame. Side plate screws show moderate stress from armorer servicing. Note that there is etching on both rear sides of the frame from wood contact with the original Magna service grips. Replacement Pachmayr SK-GP Gripper Professionals are period appropriate. We rate this revolver as Very Good, about 80 percent finishwise; but photos should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is negligible; any blast effect is not distinguishable from the adjacent original mill marks on that inside surface. This revolver has simply not been fired much, especially not with magnum loads. Lateral play to the cylinder is minimal, both with the trigger relaxed and with it pulled. Double action trigger pull is tight but consistent, and the hammer travels a full 15 degrees after the cylinder times in all six positions on double action. On single action, the hammer travels a full 35 degrees on all six after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp 3 3/4 pounds. Bore and cylinder chambers are bright, clean, and excellent. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a perfect .007. This is a very attractive Model 65-4. It is sound and eminently serviceable.
