Thanks to Fulton Armory for their serialization section. This U.S. Springfield Armory Garand’s serial number is 3,111,000 range, manufactured in September of 1944. Century Arms, C.A.I.Georgia VT import stamping is on the right center of the barrel forward on the forend. Wood on this Garand is semi-gloss Tru-Oil refinish with minimal residual scouring and white steel GI buttplate. Forend cap has not been refinished, nor has the rear sling bracket; otherwise, all of the metal on this U.S. Springfield M-1 Garand has been professionally Teflon refinished by Mr. Lee Meacham and his competent crew at Black Ice Coatings in Utah, very attractive and similar to its original finish, only much more durable. Mechanism and chamber are bright, clean, and excellent. Bore is only fair by our assessment; it has strong rifling lands and grooves, with etchy texture throughout, no deep pits. Bolt does not hold open, probably due to the slick and slippery Teflon coatings on the surfaces. It has been tested and checked with headspace gauges, checks out just fine.
