Parker GHE 20ga. AS NEW, 5LBS. 12OZ., SINGLE TRIGGER, WOW!!!
What an extraordinary gun. There are some Parker doubles that are just better than others in the way of balance, weight, and handling characteristics, and this little 20ga., sn229532, is one if them. With 99% case color, 5 3/4lb. weight, balanced right on the hinge pin, modern dimensions, Parker single selective trigger, mechanical excellence, and near new condition, this gun is as nice as they get. The GH Grade is the first level of Parker with game scene engraving and it is a low production gun with only 990 made in 20ga. with Parker Special Steel barrels, with another dozen in Damascus. There is likely less than 800 left on the planet. This gun has it all; rarity, condition, features, and sheer eye candy. Made in 1929, it is a great investment quality shotgun.
The 28” barrels retain 98% blue, excellent bores, choked IC/F (.012/.028, can be altered to your specs for $70 per barrel), 2 ¾” chambers, bore diameter .620 both barrels, minimum wall thickness 20 thou (8” back from muzzle, left barrel, completely in spec and safe to shoot. This is a very lightweight Parker and the weight removal had to come from somewhere!), no pits, scratches, or dings, ribs are tight, double ivory beads, strong well timed ejectors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin, lettering sharp, excellent!
The action has 99% case color, sharp clear engraving, excellent screws, action tight with lever just right of center, Parker second generation single selective trigger with crisp pulls, trigger guard blue 99%, really a gorgeous example of Parker workmanship. The engraving is still sharp to the touch in protected areas. This has to be one of the best Parker GHE 20 ga. guns on the market.
The stock has only a few minor handling marks and retains 99% finish, excellent checkering, 14 3/8” LOP to the dogs head butt plate, 2 5/8” drop at heel, 1 11/16” drop at comb, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs for $200 or less within 10 days of purchase), no cracks or repairs, simply gorgeous.
They made twice as many DHE 20ga. guns as they did GHE’s. At first glance there is not much difference. Based on availability the GHE’s often surpass the price of similar DHE Parker small bores. This gun has been fired so it will do no harm to continue to shoot and enjoy this fine Parker. What a great lightweight gun to carry over hill and dale in pursuit of your favorite game. Take her to the club and show her off on the clays course, keep her oiled and cleaned and the value will certainly continue to appreciate. Purchasing this gun is an investment, not an expense. That is why I love these vintage double shotguns. They are superior to most being produced today in every way, yet they do not loose value as do modern guns. How nice is that?
There are more photos upon request. There is a 30 day mechanical warranty on this gun.
