This fine Merkel 47E, sn383778 built in 2001, is NEW, UNFIRED, IN THE MAKER’S CASE, weighing just 6lbs. 2oz. and balanced perfectly between your hands with its finely struck 27” barrels choked IC/M and having perfect mirror bores and factory 3” chambers. With its German over-engineering it is fully capable of full magnum loads for your late season pheasants and waterfowl. With the IC/M chokes you can even shoot premium steel shot loads or other premium hard pellets like Hevishot (premium loads have full protective shotcups to prevent damage to your barrels) for maximum 20ga. shotgun ballistics. To find a new and unfired older Merkel is a real treasure. The older guns are much better made than the newer Merkels. This gun has the best figured walnut I have seen on a Merkel 47E! The English grip and splinter forend make for the classic lightweight upland gun. The model 47E was replaced in the newest Merkel line with the model 40E and it is not anywhere near as nice a gun as their older model 47E. The engraving is machine done; this gun has hand cut engraving. This gun has sideclips to retain the alignment of the barrels on the breech face, the new model does not.
